First time traveling solo — Lisbon or Mexico City?
I have about 8 days off in the spring and it's my first real solo trip. Torn between Lisbon and Mexico City. Which would you pick for someone a little nervous about doing it alone?

Both are great first-solo cities, but I'd start with Lisbon. It's compact, walkable, English goes a long way, and the hostels/guesthouses in Alfama and Bairro Alto make it easy to meet people without trying. Mexico City is incredible and I'd go back tomorrow, but it rewards a bit more street sense and Spanish — save it for solo trip #2.

Did Lisbon solo last year and second this — do the Sintra day trip midweek, weekends are a zoo.
